Verrucae

The dreaded verruca! Extremely common in children and young adults and easily contracted in and around areas where bare feet touch and infect surfaces, such as public swimming pools and changing rooms and in the home, your bathroom and shower.

Although fairly similar to corns and calluses, a verruca is recognisable by a cauliflower appearance with the addition of very tiny black marks (hemorrhages) that form at the centre.

If you or your child is infected we advise the immediate avoidance of communal changing rooms, showers and pool areas or at least to wearing flip-flops and keeping the area covered with a plaster, prior to contacting Kinetic Podiatry Clinic for treatment.

Treatment for verrucae varies from sharp debridement, i.e. using a scalpal to shave away the the ovelying hard skin, using potent acid/ creams, and new to our clinic, the highly and effective treatment with the use of the K•Laser medical laser.
